In 2009, the boat basin administration tightened its policy on house boats demanding that all vessels docked at the facility should be seaworthy. This demand put a stress on Mr. Capozzi who had been living there for over 30 years. The motor of his boat was broken and he did not have the funds to fix it immediately. So he had to give out his boat for free (advertising the give-away on the internet site Craigslist) and has no home ever since. Fortunately, Mr. Capozzi has many friends who are providing temporary shelter for him while he endures the effects of aquatic gentrification.
